OpenAI just got you another week of free access to Claude Fable 5.

Not a typo. OpenAI shipped GPT-5.6 Sol on Thursday. Sunday night, hours before Fable 5 was set to leave subscriptions, Anthropic extended free access. Third time in five weeks.

Everyone's reading Sol vs Fable as a benchmark fight. Wrong scoreboard. Look at how OpenAI is selling Sol: within a point of Fable's intelligence, at half the price. Half the tokens. One dev paid $16 for work that cost $63 on Fable.

They're not bragging about the fastest car anymore. They're bragging about mileage.

Cars did this exact thing. Early on, every ad was top speed. Then the market matured, gas got priced, and suddenly the number on the ad was MPG. It took the auto industry decades to make that turn.

AI is speedrunning it. The horsepower era was 2023 to 2025. The mileage era started this week. Intelligence per token. Per dollar. Per watt.

And that's also why your Fable access keeps getting extended. When one lab starts winning on efficiency, the other can't switch the meter on. Competition does what 10,000 angry replies couldn't.

New deadline is July 19. Gemini 3.5 Pro is expected July 17. Two days before.

You do the math. Fourth extension or does the meter finally flip? Make your call below. Receipts on the 19th.
