Mark Zuckerberg published 6,500 words last week.

I want the world he's describing. I'm just not sure he's checked on the one he already built.

The essay promises every kid a personal tutor with a PhD. Everyone a brilliant lawyer so the courtroom stops favoring whoever can afford better representation.

I've spent a year writing about AI and human flourishing. That vision is exactly why I care about this space.

But the essay describes the tutor and never the student.

Right now the most common use of AI in education is skipping the education. Anyone who has learned something hard knows where the learning happened. It was in the part you wanted to skip.

Three days before that essay, a court ordered Meta to pay $567 million in a child safety case. The company writing 6,500 words about the future it wants to build is the same company a court just held accountable for the one it already built.

Vision is the easy part.

Nobody needs Zuckerberg to be less optimistic about AI. They need him to sound like he's checked.
